The Decemberists New Album- Tommy II: "Video Game Pong Champion"?
The Decemberists latest album, Hazards of Love, which most likely will come out in 2009, apparently is going to have a bit of classic rock flair. According to Rolling Stones, the new album is going to be a somewhat of a rock opera (read as: a concept album by an indie rock band). Bandleader Colin Meloy stated that the album, over 16 tracks, loosly follows “a woman named Margaret who is ravaged by a shape-shifting animal; her lover, William, who is desperate for the two of them to be reunited; a forest queen; and a villainous rake.”
Of course there’s a rake there. You’re The Decemberists. I’m only slighly miffed that the rake is not lecherous, or antagonistic.
And to add some additional voices to this rockin’ tale, the band has called on the services of the female vocalists of My Brightest Diamond and Lavender Diamond (no relation). Here’s hoping for an album that manages to use “cantankerous,” “charlatan,” and “potato” in the same sentence.
